moorFLPI - Full Field, VideoFrameRateBlood Flow Imaging
The moorFLPI full fieldbloodperfusionimaging system provides video frame rate images ofbloodflow inthe microvasculature - up to 25 images per second.Comparedtostandard laser Doppler imaging the effective samplingdepthissmall. The resulting image is mainly of blood flowinthemicrovessels in the surface layers of the tissue beingsampledforexample the nutritional flow in skin. In exposed tissuewherebloodvessels are close to the surface e.g. open surgery, thesewillalsobe imaged.
Ideally suited to any applicationwhereverydynamic changes are occurring - over a few seconds forexample- whenconventional laser Doppler imaging (even the rapidmoorLDLS)couldnot provide data with sufficient time resolution. Itispossible toview pulsation in finger tips (see example below)andvariations dueto deep breath, occlusion/ ischemia,reactivehyperaemia etc.
The 60 second example, above, recordedat5images per second (maximum 25 images per second) showsreductioninflow due to local occlusion with a pressure cuffandsubsequentincrease in flow when the cuff is deflated.
